INDIANAPOLIS — The Martin University Board of Trustees announced recetly that Sean L. Huddleston will become President, effective March 25. He succeeds Dr. Eugene White who has led Martin since 2013 and announced his retirement in August. White will continue to serve Martin as President Emeritus. Huddleston was recommended by a broad-based Search Committee that conducted a national search this fall.
Huddleston is currently Vice President for Inclusion and Equity at the University of Indianapolis. He was the Chief Officer for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement at Framingham State University, Assistant Vice President for Inclusion and Equity Strategy Implementation at Grand Valley State University, and has held managerial positions with Steelcase and Detroit Technologies.
Martin University, Indiana’s only Primarily Black Institution (PBI), was founded in 1977 as a liberal arts institution designed to serve nontraditional students, particularly African American students. Today, it continues its mission of support for student success with a broader population and programs at the baccalaureate and master’s levels.
