The Warren Central Warriors won the State Championship in their division 6A on November 23, beating the Carmel Greyhounds 27-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is the ninth win for the Warriors, and completed a perfect season for the team. Carmel’s Beau Robbins earned the IHSAA Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award. Head Coach Jayson West led the team to the victory — their fourth over Carmel in championship play.
The win also cements Warren Central’s athletic dominance in student athletics, becoming the first school to finish unbeaten in boys basketball and football in the same calendar year.
The New Palestine Dragons won in their division 5A, beating Decatur Central 28-14. New Palestine had an undefeated season, and this is their second championship. The Dragons’ Luke Ely won the Eskew Mental Attitude Award. Head Coach Kyle Ralph lead the team in 2014 to a victory, as well as guiding them to the field on November 24 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
