• Thank you to Al and Rhonda Hunter for their kindness and many contributions (including the Bumps in the Night column) to the Weekly View. They are the hardest-working couple who give back in many ways to the community.
• Small Business Saturday is November 24. Many local businesses will be open with specials, giveaways, prizes, and much more. Check out Hampton Designs Studio and Shop from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. at 5515 E. Washington for a very cool day of shopping, a gift card giveaway, treats and drinks, complimentary gift wrapping and lots more. The Irvington Lodge (upstairs from Hampton’s shop) will have a Shop Small Market showcasing vintage, handmade, and unique items made by local entrepreneurs. The Shop Small Market will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
• The Indy Winter Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Circle City Industrial Complex, next to Centerpoint Brewing Company. There are dozens of vendors selling artisan goods, fresh produce, and more.
• The Rivoli Theatre rehabilitation project on East 10th St. is really coming along. A new roof is being put on, and the facade is getting a facelift as well. This years-long project is a labor of love for many, and everyone can’t wait to see what happens next!
• The ballot boxes will be out at a number of Irvington businesses as the Irvies final voting gets underway. Hampton Studio and Designs is nominate for FOUR Irvies! Other businesses nominated include Tyner Pond Market, Jockamos, Black Acre Brewing Co., The Magic Candle, James Dant, Coal Yard Coffee, Irvington Vinyl & Books, 10 Johnson Ave. among others. When you are out in these fine shops, you’ll find a ballot box — fill it out to determine the winners in various categories. The Irvies Award ceremony will be held in February.
• Thirteen businesses have decorated trees at the Ronald McDonald House, and there’s a competition for best tree. Voting for the best decorated tree will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 4-7 p.m. in conjunction with RMHCCIN’s annual Home for the Holidays Open House presented by CFH Enterprises, at the home located ata 435 Limestone St. Home for the Holidays is a free, community event where the public can enjoy holiday cookies, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, Santa Claus and more. Families, staff and guests will vote on their favorite tree at the Holiday Open House and the winning company will receive a certificate. The trees will be on display at the Ronald McDonald House through Jan. 2.
• The Weekly View office will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the day after so we can spend time with our families and friends. We are especially thankful this year for all our readers and advertisers who support our community paper!
