IRVINGTON — The Irvington Historical Society’s Holiday Fair will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ($5 admission which includes hors d’oeuvres by Mia’s Specialties, formerly Dufour’s in Irvington), and Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (free admission, and cash lunch by Mia’s). Over 25 local artisans and craftspeople creations will be on display in this Christmas wonderland of shopping. Dozens of the vendors will be on hand for one of the largest craft fairs on the east side. The Holiday Fair will be held at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Dr. in Irvington.
In addition to artists, artisans, and crafts, this year the Holiday Fair will offer original artwork for sale from the exhibit “Presenting Irvington Artists.” It will be a chance to pick up works from Pat Brown, Jenny Elkins, Yasha Perrson, Rita Spalding, and many more.
There will be two book signings throughout the fair. On Friday, Donna Griffin, author of “Twelve Days of Christmas in Indiana” and “Old Whiskers Escapes! A True White House Tale” will be on hand to sell and sign books. Also on Friday, Paul Diebold will be at the Fair to sell and sign copies of “Greater Irvington.” On Saturday, Andrea Neal will be on hand to sign and sell “Pence: The Path to Power” and “Road Trip: A Pocket History of Indiana.” These make great gifts for the readers on a gift list.
Mia’s Specialties — formerly Dufour’s in Irvington) will offer food at the Holiday Fair, and be available to sign copies of “Blessings in Our Soup: Recipes and Memoirs from Dufour’s in Irvington.”
On the same days, the Benton House Holiday Bazaar will be held at the Benton House, 312 S. Downey Ave. Hours for the Bazaar are 5-8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. 3 p.m. on Saturday offering gift-giving ideas from many vendors, plus a second hand Christmas decor shop, proceeds of which benefit the Benton House directly. Santa will be there Saturday from noon to 3:00 p.m. to get your family selfies.
