INDIANAPOLIS — Dubarry Determined, a project on the far Eastside of Indianapolis, was determined the winner of the Thriving Neighborhood Challenge on Oct. 5 by public vote. The project, led by residents Ashley Virden and David McGuire, is scheduled to begin early next year. The Thriving Neighborhood Challenge aligns with Mayor Joe Hogsett’s vision to empower neighborhoods, giving neighbors the tools they need to succeed while investing in their growth.
Over thirty projects were submitted for consideration to the Thriving Neighborhood Challenge competition. Eight teams were chosen to advance to the next round of the competition – the training and workshop sessions. During the Exhibition on City Planning at the Harrison Center on Friday, October 5th, five teams pitched their refined project ideas to the public. At the end of the evening, Dubarry Determined was announced the winner of the competition.
Dubarry Determined hopes to bridge the gap between the home, school, and community, and assist families in matters such as increasing their social capital and becoming financially stable.
