IRVINGTON — On Mon., Oct. 22, the Bona Thompson Center hosted a standing-room-only crowd as artists and community supporters gathered to applaud some of their own. After the votes were counted at the Irvington Art Show, the People’s Choice Award went to artist Avery Dellinger.
The Founders Awards were bestowed upon Kathleen Angelone for building and sustaining the independent bookstore Bookmamas for many years. Larry and Kathleen Tindall, long-standing Irvington residents, were honored for fighting for the neighborhood for decades, helping to create the Historic Irvington Community Council and the Irvington Luminaria. Jack and Dawn Nelson, owners of Central Ace Hardware on Arlington, were honored for their tireless support of Irvington organizations, and for being a pillar in the business community.
A special surprise Founders Award was given to Stan Denski, for his contributions to the Historic Irvington Community Council, and founding the Irvington Music Festival.
The awards were created to recognize outstanding contributions to the Irvington community by businesses, organizations, and individuals.
