INDIANAPOLIS — Shoppers, people watchers, families, yard-sale junkies and street food aficionados won’t want to miss the annual Indiana Landmarks Treasure Hunt from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 14 at Indiana Landmarks Center (12-1 N. Central Ave.) Morris-Butler House (1204 N. Park Ave.), and throughout the Old Northside. Treasure Hunt is free unless you want early pickings. For $5, you can come at 8 a.m., an hour before the official opening.
There will be about 50 booths in the parking lot and lawn at the Indiana Landmarks site, Morris-Butler House, and indoors in Cook Theater,.
At Morris-Butler House, there will be a Victorian tea room indoors, with food and tea by Tina’s Traditional Old English Tea Room, and an adults-only Grog ’n Grill serving Upland beer in the outdoor courtyard. Food trucks will line 12th street. Even Fido will find special treats at City Dogs Grocery pet station.
Activities on the campus for kids will include Clipper Ship Spectacular with puppeteer Jason Adams, a magician, stilt walker, juggling lessons with Krembo K, architectural blocks, a craft table, face painting, and balloon twisting. Owl Music Group artists featuring Tad Robinson will perform throughout the day.
In the center’s Grand Hall, visitors can view an exhibit of the 10 Most Endangered, a list of historic Indiana places in jeopardy, and offer ideas for how to save them. The Rapp Family Gallery will feature “Off the Record,” a group show of work by 28 artists inspired by punk aesthetics, rock music, pop culture, and political topics.
Bargain hunters will want to check out the more than 40 yard sales throughout the Old Northside, including the All Saints Episcopal Church’s annual Big, Big, Really Big, Sidewalk Sale at 16th and Central.
