INDIANAPOLIS — Construction crews have begun construction on the Red Line. Construction began with roadway and sidewalk improvements along Shelby. No lane restrictions are anticipated, but some lane shifts will occur along Shelby Street at Campus Drive North, Southern Avenue, and Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive. Drivers are asked to please move carefully as workers will likely be using flags to direct traffic.
Roadworks on Shelby St. from Hanna to Troy will continue through June 15. Improvements from Troy to Raymond are set to begin June 11 through June 22. From Raymond to Prospect, expect construction from June 18-July 3.
Phase 1 of the Red Line is an element of the Marion County Transit Plan that will increase local transit service by 70%. Stretching 13 miles from Broad Ripple to the University of Indianapolis, the Red Line will serve as the frequent spine of the improved and reliable grid network.
