• The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a Linen Sale Fundraiser on March 28 and March 29 — Wed. 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Thurs. 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the breezeway near the main lobby. • Congratulations to the Pogues Run Art and Nature Park Task Force for all their hard work which has lead to becoming finalists in the Neighborhoods USA Awards for their efforts to improve the Pogues Run park at 23rd and Dequincy.
• The Indianapolis Fire Department will open its doors Sat., March 24 from 1-4 p.m. as part of a city wide neighborhood open house at seven stations throughout the city. There will be lots of activities for adults and kids. Fire stations participating in this round include Station 21 (2508 E. 71st St.), Station 27 (2918 E. 10th St.), Station 45 (10601 E. 30th St.), and Station 53 (6231 S. Arlington Ave.).
• Celebrate Easter on the Pennsy Trail on March 31 from noon-3 p.m. with a family friendly event that includes and Easter egg hunt, sidewalk chalk art contests, and a pre-egg hunt yoga session. The event is free. More details are available on the Irvington Events Facebook page.
• All Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Sun., April 1 in observance of Easter. All locations will reopen at their regular times on Mon., April 2.
• Irvington Community Schools will host the 6th Annual ICS Golf Open Sat., May 19 at Pleasant Run Golf Course on the beautiful east side. There will be a lunch, silent and live auctions, contest holes, and raffles. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Early bird registration is now open for a team at $300, and individuals at $100. • All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) branches will be closed Fri., March 30 in observance of the Good Friday holiday. Branches resume regularly scheduled business hours on Sat., March 31. • With the closure of some IPS high schools, the athletic departments will also change. IPS athletics will add more sports at each high school, including more non-traditional sports such as golf, swimming, and more. New athletic directors have also been announced: Shann Hart will be at George Washington HS, Tyrone Lockhart at Crispus Attucks, Donald Newberry at Arsenal Tech, and Katherine Langdon will remain at Shortridge. Hart was formerly with Irvington Community Schools, and Newberry was the AD at Broad Ripple.
