INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has received a generous donation of a bucket truck from the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL). The bucket truck will be used to maintain over 100 cameras located in approximately 80 locations throughout the city. These cameras have been in place since 2008 and when maintenance is needed or the cameras need to be replaced, the work would be contracted. In the event one of the cameras were damaged due to a traffic accident, repairing or putting the camera back in place would take several days, if not weeks due to scheduling. With the IPL bucket truck donation, IMPD staff will be able to respond quickly to repair/replace cameras and provide much needed maintenance in timely and cost effective manner without having to contract the work to an outside company.
