INDIANAPOLIS — Film historian Eric Grayson will screen the classic 1939 film, Son of Frankenstein, starring the iconic actors Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone, and Bela Lugosi at the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Drive, on Sat., Oct. 14, at 8 p.m.
Grayson previously screened Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein as Vintage Movie Night selections. In this film, young Dr. Frankenstein returns to his family home to claim his inheritance, which includes the monster his father created. Weakened but alive, the monster is under the control of Ygor, who has a score to settle with the court system that botched his execution. According to Grayson, Dr. Frankenstein must contend with Ygor and try to rehabilitate the monster before the villagers storm the castle (again). The Mel Brooks’ film, Young Frankenstein, owes much of its story, albeit a zany comedy, to Son of Frankenstein.
