Alan Hunter’s Irvington Ghost Tours officially begin Sept. 29 at 7 p.m., kicking off the Irvington Halloween season. However, on Sept. 16, there was a special scholarship tour for one of the volunteers, Cameron McAbee, who is a senior at Warren Central High School.
Cameron has been volunteering on the Ghost Tours for over a year, and loves giving back to the community. He is planning on becoming an avian veterinarian (bird doctor) upon graduation. He is planning on attending Franklin College, then transferring to Purdue. Tour leader Al Hunter wanted to help the hard-working student achieve his dream and proposed the special tour.
The limited space tour brought 50 people to the streets of Irvington to see a few new stops (no spoilers) with the theme of “serial killers of Irvington.” All proceeds will go to a scholarship for Cameron’s college expenses.
The regular Irvington Ghost Tours will run on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 28. All tours start on 10 S. Johnson, and tickets are $15 (includes a copy of “Irvington Haunts: The Tour Guide”). It is CASH ONLY. Advance tickets are available at the Magic Candle on S. Audubon.
Profits of the Irvington Ghost Tours go to support local charities, including GaiaWorks food pantry and the Irvington Historical Society.
