• All Indianapolis Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 23 and will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 24 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. In addition, the Flanner House Branch will be closed on Fri., Nov. 25.
• Indiana Landmarks and Carson’s invite the public to witness the ceremonial start of the repaired Ayres Clock on Sun., Nov. 20 at noon. The four-faced clock, mounted on the old Ayres building now occupied by Carson’s at the southwest corner of Meridian and Washington streets, has been the subject of a fundraising campaign launched by Indiana Landmarks on Oct. 5. Mayor Joe Hogsett will offer brief remarks before the clock starts running.The event will end by 12:30 p.m., with hot chocolate available inside Carson’s at the conclusion.
• Congratulations to Indy LISC Executive Director Bill Taft who recently was named the recipient of this year’s IBJ’s Michael A. Carroll Award for his decades of work in Indianapolis’ neighborhoods.

• A new playground has been installed at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1702 Broadway St. Since April the park has benefitted from $600,000 in updates and renovations, which include new playground equipment and a community shelter. Earlier this year, the NCAA Team Works Basketball Dreamcourt (adjacent to the playground) was unveiled.
• This weekend, check out Indiana — The Musical at Theater at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. The Nickel Plate Players will be bringing their hit musical to the Theater at the Fort for four great shows in November (18th-20th). From gun fights in Carmel to grave robbers in Fishers, from saloon smashing women in Westfield to Presidents visiting Noblesville (with a story that extends state-wide) true and accurate accounts of events that have shaped the state over 200 years have been weaved into a musical like none other. Performances will be on Fri., Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m., Sat., Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sun. • The web-based Enroll Indy School Finder that families can utilize to find the right fit in choosing a school for their child was recently launched. The School Finder, enrollindy.org/, which is the first of its kind in Indiana, gives families time to review and identify their options well in advance of the first IPS Choice application deadline of Jan. 6, 2017. Enroll Indy also is operating an in-person resource center at IPS headquarters (120 E. Walnut St.) as well as a hotline (1-877-88-ENROLL), to further provide families with impartial information about the school application process.
