INDIANAPOLIS — The Warren Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library, 9701 E. 21st St., will be closed from Mon., Oct. 3 through Thurs., Oct. 6 for necessary interior construction as part of the first major renovation of the 15,740-square-foot facility since it opened in 1974.
Contractors will move the library’s collection to its final location, install new computer tables, furniture and public PCs, move self-check units and circulation desk PCs, and remove a temporary enclosure. Following these activities, the branch will reopen and be able to provide most services to patrons while the renovation continues toward completion later in 2016.
The $1.1 million project will include a relocated entrance nearer the parking lot, new and separate areas for children and teens, reconfigured restrooms and additional access to technology. A new drive-up book drop is planned as well as an expanded circulation area, a marketplace for exhibits and displays, and dedicated study areas.
