• Another chapter of the International Harvester/Navistar plant on Brookville Rd. will come to a close Sept. 30. The remaining UAW workers will leave the building. Since 1937 the UAW and International Harvester have had a presence on the east side of Indianapolis. The plant site has been purchased by a Cleveland, Ohio company, Park Corp., which specializes in buying industrial sites, refurbishing them and leasing them out.
• Scecina Memorial High School’s Advanced Mixed Chorus and Instrumental Ensemble present the third annual Sacred Music Concert at 7 p.m. Monday, October 10, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 East 10th Street. The concert is free and open to the public. Enjoy an evening of music that will induce a sense of prayer, peace and serenity amid the chaos of today’s world.
• There will be a Marion County Transit Plan Neighbor Forum on Oct. 4 from 6-7 p.m. in the Community Room of Englewood Christian Church, 57 N. Rural. There will be another meeting on Oct. 13 from 6-7 p.m. at the Chase Community Room, John Boner Center at 2236 E. 10th St. Find out about the new rapid transit lines at either meeting.
• On Tues., Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Warren Township Government Center, 501 N. Post Rd, the Eastgate Neighborhood Fall Meeting will be held. Agenda Items will include State Representatives, Cindy Kirchhofer and Dan Forestal (if he is free from duty from the Fire Station) and City-County Councilman David Ray. Discussion will also include positive assets in the neighborhood, plus work on a neighborhood logo. Neighbors and business owners in the Eastgate community are encouraged to attend.
• The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a Fall Boutique on October 6 and 7, 2016. The hours are Thurs., 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Fri., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location in the breezeway near main lobby. Payment by cash, credit card and payroll deduction. (Minimum credit card purchase of $10.) • Partners for Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) is offering residents of Hancock County and surrounding areas a low cost alternative to getting cats and dogs spayed/neutered for as little as $5 per cat through the P.A.W.S. $5/$10/$15 Feline Fix program. Bring in 1-3 cats and the cost is $15 per cat. For 4-7 cats, the cost is $10 per cat. For 8 or more cats, the cost is only $5 per cat. Each cat is spayed/neutered, given a three year rabies vaccine and treated for fleas. Any healthy cat or kitten that weighs at least 3 pounds qualifies. Feral [wild] cats are welcome. The cost for a dog to be spayed or neutered ranges from $40-$80, depending on the size of the dog. Reservations are required.
