INDIANAPOLIS — Join NEAR staff and volunteers on Sat., Oct. 22 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for the annual Near Eastside weatherization event Caulk of the Town.
The event focuses on weatherizing homes in critical need of care before cold weather sets in. Since 1990, Caulk of the Town has made a high impact on both the neighbors with homes in need of weatherization as well as on volunteers who join together and serve during this one-day effort.
This year, IPL and Good Cents are partners with NEAR, which offer an income-qualified weatherization program.
If you live on the Near Eastside and know of a Near Eastside homeowner or renter that needs weatherization on their house, please either use the online application to apply, or print out and distribute a hard copy of the application. Both are available at: www.nearindy.org/projects/caulk-of-the-town/
Please consider volunteering. It’s 4.5 hours out of an autumn Saturday. You’ll make a big difference in the community. No experience required. NEAR will supply all tools and materials. Register as an individual or a team (4 to 7 per team). Lunch will be provided. Register at www.nearindy.org/projects/caulk-of-the-town/
Individuals or companies can sponsor one house. For just $200, a contribution will provide all the supplies and materials to complete basic weatherization on a 1,200 square foot home. Your individual or company name/logo will be featured on the yard signs, t-shirts, social media, and all other promotional materials related to Caulk of the Town. Please contact Kelli Burnett at NEAR for sponsorship info: kelli@nearindy.org or 317-808-2369
