INDIANAPOLIS — Rock Steady Boxing will hold its 2nd Annual Friday Night Fights with Golden Gloves of Indiana. The event will feature special guest Frank Martin, the first fighter from Indianapolis to win the Golden Gloves national title since 1984. The event will take place on Fri., Aug. 5 at the Rock Steady Boxing Gym, located at 6847 Hillsdale Court. The event is slated for 6-10 p.m. All proceeds benefit Rock Steady Boxing’s fight against Parkinson’s disease. Tickets are available on Eventbrite or will be $55 at the door until the event is sold out.
Last year’s inaugural event was sold out with more than 500 people in attendance. Community partner Sun King provided beer and Yats catered a buffet, which is included in the ticket price. The event raised more than $10,000.
Rock Steady Boxing, Inc., is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by former Marion County Prosecutor, Scott C. Newman, who is living with Parkinson’s. Rock Steady Boxing is a unique, non-contact, exercise program based on exercises used by boxing professionals, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease. Today, there are over 200 Rock Steady Boxing affiliates in 40 states and six international affiliates.
