INDIANAPOLIS — The Public Collection, an art and literacy project that provides free books for readers of all ages, is hosting a book drive to restock the shelves of its nine Indianapolis-area book share stations.
Gently-used books of all kinds can be donated at:
• Indianapolis Public Library branch locations
• Indianapolis City Market (2nd floor)
• Chase Tower
• Garden Table restaurant in Broad Ripple
• Athleta at The Fashion Mall
Large donations can be delivered to the Library Services Center at 2450 N. Meridian St., or donors can also call (317) 275-4700 to arrange large pickups.
Containers used for collection will be reused as rain barrels following the book drive that will span four to six weeks.
Since launching the program in August last year, The Public Collection has distributed approximately 22,000 books — nearly 500 books a week — into the community through its book share stations that are also works of art. Books are supplied and stocked by the Indianapolis Public Library and can be borrowed at no cost and returned at leisure.
The book share stations are located at: Eskenazi Health, Horizon House, Indianapolis City Market, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, Monument Circle, and White River State Park.
