Tech High School’s long time music director Cindy Hartschorn will be retiring with a final Retirement Reunion Concert on Friday, June 10 on the Tech Stage. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. with all show choir and concert choir students (past and present) invited to come and actually perform some show choir songs and choir songs. Go to Facebook, “Cindy is Retiring” for details. The Techoir and John Marshall Choir will be singing the “Hallelujah Chorus” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic”as well as school songs. There will be special guest soloists including Steven Taylor who is taking the weekend off from his Broadway role as Mufasa in The Lion King to come and sing at the concert and be part of the festivities. He is one of the many students that Cindy has inspired over the years. Following the short concert will be a retirement reception for Cindy in the Tech cafeteria.
At the School Board meeting (April 28), Dr. Ferebee announced that the Tech stage will henceforth be known as the Cynthia Hartshorn Stage. What an honor for a very deserving teacher, who has dedicated the last 30 years of her 42 years teaching music at Tech High School (her alma mater). The dedication of the stage will be during the reunion concert.
Best Wishes on her retirement, she will surely be missed!
