INDIANAPOLIS — For three performances, Churchill will take the stage at the Warren Center for the Performing Arts, 9500 E. 16th St. Performances will be June 3 and June 4 at 7:30 p.m. and June 5 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for lower level and $25 for the balcony. Proceeds will be used for scholarships for TCM International Institute students. For tickets, visit www.iTickets.com or call 1-800-965-9324.
Churchill takes place in March 1946, just as he had lost an election and was forced into retirement. Everything he fought for during World War II is slipping through his fingers. Then he receives an invitation from U.S. President Harry S Truman to speak in Fulton Missouri, where he rediscovers his strength in a speech that impacts the world. Sometimes referred to as the “Iron Curtain” speech, Churchill’s view helped shape the U.S. response to the looming threat of Soviet expansion, bringing about the Cold War.
Ronald Keaton brings the great British leader to life. His performance in Chicago earned him the 2014 Jefferson Award for solo performance in a professional theater. The same production earned a Top 10 performance among the 2015 New York theatrical season — a rare award for an Off-Broadway production. He started his acting career in central Indiana community theatre, including at the Indianapolis Civic Theater, the Indiana Repertory Theater, and Beef and Boards. He moved to Chicago in 1987 and appeared on many stages there, as well as New York, Miama, and Houston.
