• Buck Creek Players will present a killer musical by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, Assassins, May 27-June 12. Part vaudeville extravaganza, part exposé and wholly electrifying, ASSASSINS reveals uneasy truths about the American Dream. • If you would like to help our the community in disasters/emergencies, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training will be offered June 9, 10, 11 at St. Athanasius Catholic Church 1117 Blaine Ave. and July 15, 16, 17 in Lawrence. • Indianapolis City Market will launch the first Twilight Market season June 9 at 5 p.m. The evening market will run until 8 p.m. June through September on the West Plaza of City Market and offer chamber music, farm stands, craft vendors, and much more. There will even be a beer garden. City Market is located at 222 E. Market St. downtown.
• Herron High School senior and eastside resident Greta Herbertz, who’s served as a Page at the Irvington Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library since 2013, will study Hindi in India this summer through a National Security Language Initiative for Youth scholarship from the U.S. State Department. Herbertz is one of approximately 600 U.S. students to receive such a scholarship to study Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian or Turkish overseas this year. While in India, Herbertz will receive formal instruction and informal language practice in an immersion environment. Congratulations Greta and safe travels!
