INDIANAPOLIS – Martin University will partner with The Law Office of Amber Nicole Ying to hold an Expungement One-On-One event on Wed., April 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Martin’s Gathertorium at 2171 Avondale Place in Indianapolis.
A panel of attorneys will provide one-on-one consultations to assess the participant’s individual history and determine eligibility for expungement of a criminal record. Participants must bring their full and limited criminal record, which can be accessed by contacting the Indiana State Police or visiting www.in.gov/isp/2334.htm. The consultations are free and open to the public. Individuals will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. For additional information, contact Tracey Jackson at 317-917-3308.
The following day, on Thurs., April 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, Martin University will be the host site for the Indiana Court of Appeals to celebrate National Law Day. Law Day was established in 1958 by President Dwight Eisenhower “as day of dedication to the principle of government under law.”
In the spirit of National Law Day, it is the university’s goal to serve the Martindale-Brightwood community and other underserved communities. This is accomplished by educating individuals on changes in laws that may impact them; by providing access to governmental and private agencies that typically serve minority and low-income communities; and providing information regarding a variety of services, legal and non-legal, that will benefit the general public. This is also a free event and open to the public. For additional information, contact Dr. Miltina Gavia at 317-917-3305.
