• All Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Thurs., Dec. 24 and Fri., Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday. All locations will reopen at their regular times on Sat., Dec. 26.
• Irvington UMC at 30 N. Audubon will present Carols by Candlelight on Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. The choir will perform both contemporary and traditional music. This would be a lovely addition to your Irvington Luminaria tour.
• In commemoration of Indiana’s Bicentennial, two centerpiece sculptures will be placed in the Indiana Bicentennial Plaza, located at the intersection of Robert D. Orr Plaza and Senate Avenue on the grounds of the Indiana Government Center complex. The first sculpture is called Enduring Flame, and will be located at the north end of the plaza, and the second sculpture, Living Time Capsule, will be installed near the south end. Enduring Flame was sculpted by Osman Akan, and the Living Time Capsule piece is from Dale Enochs from Bloomington. The pieces will be installed by October, 2016.
• Shops in Irvington will have a late-night last-minute shopping opportunity on Tues., Dec. 22. Bookmamas, Vintage Motifs, and several other merchants in Irvington will be open until 10 p.m. for all you procrastinators out there. Bookmamas will have a 20% off sale and refreshments (be sure to stop by the store on Mon. Dec. 21 to say happy birthday to Kathleen and have some birthday cake!). Black Sheep Gifts, ReTulled, James Dant, Collector’s Paradise, Upcycle 360, and many others are participating. Dufour’s will be serving lunch specials.
• An early heads-up. IRT will present The Mystery of Irma Vep, a gothic horror story with a Victorian bodice-ripper comedy beginning Jan. 12. • The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is the recipient of three major funding awards from The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The grants will support the museum’s annual Indian Market and Festival, detailed art conservation surveys and conservation treatments of artworks.
