INDIANAPOLIS — The flashy hotels and distinctive signage of the Vegas Strip now have a place among the icons of the West featured in the Eiteljorg Museum’s Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure, a one-of-a-kind G-scale train display. Vegas is one of several new additions museum goers will discover when this popular winter locomotive wonderland and Indianapolis family tradition opens on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Jingle Rails features nine trains racing from downtown Indianapolis to the American West past famous landmarks including Mount Rushmore, Old Faithful, Golden Gate Bridge and Indy’s very own Lucas Oil Stadium and Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.
Visitors can sound the whistle on one of the Jingle Rails engines, and a kiosk offering a “train’s-eye view” of the exhibit will be nestled between the trestles in Eagle Commons.
The museum will host its bi-annual Hospitality Week, Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, giving complimentary admission to concierges, cab drivers, wait staff, skycaps and other Indianapolis-area hospitality workers and their families, so that they may be among the first to see the Jingle Rails exhibit.
For more information about the museum and to learn more about exhibits and events, call 317-636-WEST (9378) or visit www.eiteljorg.org.
