Indy Author Fair at Central Library

INDIANAPOLIS — Aspiring writers and book lovers of all ages are invited to interact with leading Indiana authors and participate in a variety of free writing and publishing workshops during the Indy Author Fair on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
The day’s activities precede the evening’s ticketed Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award Dinner at Central Library when this year’s winning Hoosier authors who have contributed to the nation’s literary landscape will be honored.
Highlighting the Indy Author Fair will be a celebration of the life of Indianapolis’ own Mari Evans, a monumental figure in poetry who also has played roles in shaping women’s history, politics, music and drama. The public is invited to join friends from Evans’ professional and personal lives who will share stories and brief readings in her honor.
In addition to workshops on writing and publishing novels, nonfiction, humor and personal memoirs, blogging and creating slam poetry (teens), individuals can sit down with the winners of the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award who include National Award winner Marianne Boruch, Regional Award winner Adrian Matejka, and Emerging Author finalists Laura Bates, Skila Brown and Clifford Garstang. Attendees also can network with more than 40 Indiana authors who represent a range of writing styles and genres. The event will include book sales and signings.
