GREENFIELD — The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum will hold an Open House Sept. 27 from 2-4 p.m. to celebrate the start of the Riley Festival, which will be held Oct. 1-4. The open house is a time honored tradition where visitors may go through on a walk through of the Riley Boyhood home for free.
The open house will also be the first official appearance of the Riley Festival Queen, Ashley Fritz and her court. This year’s festival theme, “The Raggedy Man,” will be introduced, and light refreshments will be served. The event starts off with opening ceremonies at 2 p.m. at the gazebo in the Riley Gardens, which are located behind the Riley Boyhood Home and Museum. Then the Boyhood Home and Museum will be open to the public for walk-through tours. In case of rain, the opening event will be moved into the Riley Museum , but the Riley Home will still be open for tours.
