Applause!: March 13-20

• NEAR will be holding the first of three meetings about the potential development/redevelopment for the Mass Ave/Brookside industrial corridor on March 16 at 6 p.m. at the East 10th St. United Methodist Church, 2327 E. 10th St. Residents of the Near Eastside, Martindale Brightwood, and King Park are encouraged to attend.
• At March 7 NESCO Congress, there was a first-ever announcement of NESCO Legends. The first year’s inductees include Father James Byrne of Holy Cross Catholic Church, John Boner, Dick Moore, Chuck Coleman, Sue Switzer, Ruth Shaw, Jim Schrum, Tessie Lloyd-Jones, Tracy Heaton de Martinez, Rosie Stockdale, Frank Watson, and Jerry Shepherd.
• The Out to Lunch Bunch, a satellite group of the Quilters Guild of Indianapolis, will meet March 26 at 11 a.m. at the Southside Knights of Columbus Hall on 511 E. Thompson Rd. Lunch is $10. • Button enthusiasts are expected to visit the 74th Annual Indiana Button Show and Competition March 13-14 at the Radisson Hotel Indianapolis Airport, 2500 S. High School Rd. Admission is $3. There will be vendors and a collector’s table. Visit www.indianabuttonsociety.org
• On April 11, the Herb Society of Central Indiana will hold it’s annual spring symposium from  9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2003 Pleasant St. in Noblesville. The theme will be “Sweet and Savory,” celebrating the herb of the year, savory, with a day of learning and sociability. Snacks, silent auction, shopping with plant and gift vendors, and a luncheon add to the festivities. Cost is $50. The registration deadline is April 5. • Oaklandon Civic Theatre will present Ghost Story, a comedy of errors written and directed by Marsha Grant, on March 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and March 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. Bonnie’s Cafe will provide a theme-oriented intermission. • Community Health Network-Behavioral Health. in collaboration with IMPD and Mt. Moriah Church, and Fervent Prayer Church invite the public to attend a Behavioral Health Fair on March 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Church, 2349 N. Keystone Ave. They will provide information about resources available to help individuals and families create a stable environment, mental health issues, and the availability of treatment and care.
