• Emerson Heights will have a community meeting on Feb. 19 from 6:45-8:00 p.m. at the Wallace Street Evangelical Church, 4805 E. 10th St. This month’s meeting will be to discuss area events and concerns. East District Community Prosecutor Dirk Cushing and Mayor’s Neighborhood Liaison Paul Ross will be on hand to answer questions.
• The Irvington Green Initiative’s February meeting will be on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. at Jockamo Upper Crust at 5646 E. Washington St. The featured speaker will be Husk, a local food system which provides year-round access to local, non-GMO foods. The meetings are free to attend.
• Gallery/Portraits by Casey Ross Productions will open Feb. 20 at the Grove Haus, 1001 Hosbrook (Fountain Square). Show dates are February 20th-21st at 8PM, February 22nd at 5PM (with a pay what you want discount) and the 27th- March 1st at 8PM. All shows are at Grove Haus. Tickets are $15 excluding the pay-what-you-want showing on the 22nd. Tickets are cash at the door or online at brownpapertickets.com.
• Indianapolis law firm Benesch has committed $5,000 and a half-day shadowing opportunity for an area high school student interested in law. The open application period for the Benesch Raise the Bar Indiana scholarship, which involves a blog post submission, social media engagement and community involvement, begins Monday, Feb. 9. The scholarship application is housed at http://BeneschRaisetheBar.com. The deadline is March 8.
• Have coffee with a cop on Feb. 23 from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. at the McDonald’s at 1611 N. Meridian. This is a program offered by East District IMPD for neighbors to get to know their local police officers in a friendly, non-meeting environment.

• Three new members have been elected to the Marion County Agricultural & 4H Club Fair Association board: Lydia Armstrong, Jeff Edwards, and John Gardner.
