IRVINGTON — Now a tradition in its 15th year, the Irvington Holiday Open House will take place on Friday, Dec. 5th from 5-9 p.m. The event is organized by the Irvington Business Association (IBA) and marks the beginning of the holiday season in the community. Irvington is home to a wide variety of shops, restaurants and other small businesses along South Audubon Road, Johnson, and Bonna Avenues as well as East Washington St.
Although the evening is a perfect time to shop local, it is also an opportunity for the IBA to give back to customers and neighbors. Children can visit Santa at George Thomas Florist from 6-8 p.m. and have a free picture taken courtesy of Walgreen’s. IBA members underwrite horse drawn carriage rides with Yellow Rose Carriages from 6-9 p.m. which debark from the front of the Library. Although there is no charge, riders are asked to make a free-will cash donation to support ICAN, a service of the Irvington Association of Ministers. ICAN maintains clothing and food pantries among other support services. (The rides are very popular, be early for best results!)
Come out, explore and enjoy the holiday spirit in Irvington on this December first Friday. Enjoy a meal, raise a glass and discover unique gifts. Along the way you may encounter carolers from Irvington Prep Academy’s Show Choir or a Girl Scout troop, meet local authors, hear live music and admire the festive decorations.
