• The Hancock County Historical Society will present a program of Christmas music by the “Dulcimer Connections” and with Christy Paul & her daughters; playing violin & harp, on Nov. 30 at the Chapel in the Park, 28 N. • The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a “Books are Fun” sale on Wed. and Thurs., Dec. 3 and 4, in the breezeway near the main lobby. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Quality books and gifts at 30-70% off retail. Proceeds to benefit hospital programs/services. Payment by cash, checks, debit, major credit cards and payroll deduction. • The much anticipated Holiday Open House and First Friday events in Irvington will take place on Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m. all along Audubon, East Washington, Johnson, and on Bonna Ave. The great thing about Irvington is that it is very walkable — and rideable! Always look forward to the carriage rides and pictures with Santa.
• Looking for something interesting and out of the ordinary to do? There will be an English Country Ball on Dec. 11 at the Garfield Park Arts Center from 6:30-8:30. Live music by Entwyned, lively dancing with callers Ken Gall and Barry Levitt, and much more will be going on. No registration is required and all skill levels are welcome, ages 14 and up. The Arts Center is at 2432 Conservatory Dr.
• The Indianapolis Public Library will be hosting Holiday Classic Concerts at various locations throughout December. The concerts feature chamber ensemble music performances of favorite holiday classics and carols by members of the Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra. Check out the Dec. 8 concert at the Central Library (40 E. St. Clair) at 6 p.m., and the Dec. 9 concert at Irvington (5625 E. Washington St.) at 6:30 p.m. These events are free.
• The City of Lawrence will host their Third Annual Christmas Lighting ceremony on Nov. 29 at the Government Center, 9001 E. 59th St. Santa will arrive at 4:30 p.m. and the program starts at 5:30 p.m. Bring the family for lots of fun!
• Want to see what a difference Art With a Heart is making in student’s lives? Check out the Martindale-Brightwood Schools Art Show on Dec. 2 at 2605 E. 25th St. from 5-6:30 p.m. Works of art created by students and inspired by artists and cultures from around the world will be on display. The works came from Art with a Heart’s After School programs at IPS #51, #56, and #69 this semester.
