INDIANAPOLIS — For the 16th consecutive year, IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital will host a free Pet Carnival for animals and pet lovers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 right outside of its facility, 5425 Victory Drive, on Indianapolis’ southeast side near Beech Grove.
Although the event is free, IndyVet encourages guests to bring an item(s) or monetary donation for the Humane Society of Indianapolis and the Morgan County Humane Society. Items needed include, but are not limited to: tall kitchen garage bags, paper towels, Dawn dish soap, food and cat litter.
Over 40 pet-related vendors will feature fashion wear, pet accessories, specialty food, doggie daycares and spas, homemade treats, beds, and even memoriam services. Area rescues will have cats and dogs up for adoption including beagles, greyhounds, bulldogs and shelties, to name a few.
Justin the Artistic Horse, who has appeared on CNN and ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and more recently in National Geographic Kids “125 Stories of Amazing Pets,” will showcase one-of-a-kind painting demonstrations throughout the carnival. Tony Hoard and his high-flying K9 Crew, “America’s Got Talent” Season 4 semi-finalists, will perform two shows along with obedience, and search and rescue groups like the Indiana State Police K9 Unit, and Koorsen’s Kasey the Fire and Life Safety Dog.
Guests can enter to win door prizes, and register pets in the “Best Dressed Pet” and “Best Pet Trick” competitions the day of. Owners can register pets at check-in and up to at least 15 minutes prior to start time.
