100 Years Ago This Week: June 6-13

From The Indianapolis News, Saturday, June 6, 1914: Miss Ella Groninger, the first woman admitted to the Marion County bar with the intention of practicing regularly in the county courts, won her first case today in the courtroom of Superior Court Judge Clarence E. Weir. Miss Groninger appeared as attorney for Eloise M. Patton who sued her husband William W. Patton for divorce on charges of cruel treatment and drunkenness. Miss Groninger brought out the facts in the case in such a manner that Judge Weir complimented her. Miss Groninger was graduated this year from the Indiana Law School, and she is a member of the firm of Groninger, Groninger, & Groninger which she has been associated with for the last fifteen years.
