INDIANAPOLIS — Q Artistry will hold its very first “Free or Donation” presentation as Bunny Spectacular, a 40 minute musical comedy puppetry extravaganza for kids of all ages. Thanks to funding received from the Historic Irvington Community Council, audience members are encouraged to attend the show for free or to pay whatever they would like. The puppet show will play at Q Artistry’s home in the Irvington Lodge, 5515 E. Washington St. Performances are Fri., May 2 at 7 p.m., Sat., May 3 at 3 p.m. and Sun., May 4 at 2 p.m.
Bunny Spectacular, an original puppetry musical which premiered at Q in 2012, uses over 30 different puppets to weave through numerous short tales with bunny/rabbit leading characters. Director Ben Asaykwee leads a team of 6 puppeteers and assistant directors each with an eye to a specific selection in the show, transforming the Irvington Lodge into a magical vaudevillian rabbit romp including songs such as “I’m So Wild About Carrots” and stories “Little Bunny KungFu,” “Br’er Rabbit and the Great Tug-o-war,” “Peter Rabbit,” “The Legend of the Jade Rabbit,” and more.
This will be Q Artistry’s first foray in to a “Free or Pay What You Can” structure for a presentation and they hope to do more in the future. Tickets are free for general admission and are available in advance (recommended) at www.qartistry.org. Donations will be accepted at the show.
