INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and The Indianapolis Public Library have expanded the gun lock giveaway program. The pilot program began with pick-up locations at six Library branches, however, the program’s popularity, including over 500 gun locks being distributed out of the Irvington Branch alone, led to expanding the number of branches at which the free gun locks are available.
Free gun locks will now be available at the following branches: The College Avenue Branch (4180 N College Ave.), the Decatur Branch (5301 Kentucky Ave.), the Franklin Road Branch (5550 S Franklin Road), the Eagle Branch (3325 Lowry Road), the Garfield Park Branch (5202 Shelby Street), the Haughville Branch (2121 W Michigan Street), the InfoZone (in Children’s Museum – 3000 N Meridian Street), the Lawrence Branch (7898 N Hague Road), the Nora Branch (8625 Guilford Ave.), the Pike Branch (6525 Zionsville Road), and the Wayne Branch (198 S Girls School Road).
This is in addition to the original six pick up sites: The Central Library (40 E St. Clair Street), the Southport Branch (2630 E Stop 11 Road), the Glendale Branch (6101 N Keystone Ave.), the Brightwood Branch (2435 N Sherman Drive), the Irvington Branch (5625 E Washington Street), and the West Indianapolis Branch (1216 S Kappes Street).
