Adopt-A-Block Volunteers to Help in Clean-Up

INDIANAPOLIS — There are several organized cleanups happening on Great Indy Clean-Up (GIC) Day, Saturday April 26 on the east side. GIC focuses on volunteer cleanup of trash, litter and  brush from curbways, right-of- ways, greenways and waterways.  Community volunteers sign up via KIBI, and   organize and carry out cleanups. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. schedules pickup of brush bundles and trash with  volunteer coordinators. They also supply  trash bags, work gloves, water and other resources for GIC day cleanup events.
Here are the Saturday April 26 GIC CleanUps Organized for Irvington:
• S. Butler and S. Hawthorne from Washington St. to RR St. (Hibben) & Alley, organized by Paula Schmidt KIBI Adopt-a-Blocker.  Contact: 352-0998 (Meet 8:30 a.m. 5246 Julian to organize. Water, coffee & rolls available. Lunch at Noon with Bona Thompson Center group (222 S. Downey parking lot)
• Bona Thompson Center, Apartments & Laura’s Garden Neighborhood, organized by Patricia Waters KIBI Adopt-a-Blocker.  Contact IndyLiving Services at 531-0688. Meet 8:30 a.m. 222 S. Downey area to organize.  Water, coffee & rolls. Noon – Lunch available 222 S. Downey area.
• Irvington Terrace: Parkway/Greenway, Kenyon to Webster- more if enough participate, organized by Chris Maroldo KIBI Adopt-a-Blocker. Contact: cmaroldo@iupui.edu. Meet 9 a.m. 6315 E. Pleasant Run Pkwy to organize. Refreshments. Noon- Pitch In, 6315 E. Pleasant Run Pkwy (after cleanup).
• Pleasanton Historic District in Irvington: Washington St.-SW Ellenberger Pk., organized by Dan Marshall KIBI Adopt-a-Blocker.  Contact: irv1879@yahoo.com Meet 8 a.m. at Kin Hubbard Memorial (New York&Emerson) to organize, for cleanup of greenway and Pleasant Run creek.
An Irvington Crimewatch group coordinated by Emily Mack, will also be cleaning and trimming along Lowell/ N. Hawthorne/Pleasant Run Parkway streets in their neighbor area.
