INDIANAPOLIS — On Tues., Sept. 24, there will be a forum on urban homesteading at 6 p.m. at the John H. Boner Community Center, 2236 E. 10th St.
Recent changes in the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development’s policies on acquiring distressed properties in the Indy Land Bank open up the possibility for urban homesteading. It will become possible to purchase a Land Bank property and move in with a commitment to fully restore the houses. The forum will provide information about urban homesteading possibilities and requirements on the near eastside. This will be a follow-up to a similar forum Indy-east Asset Development gave in August, but will provide more information and responses to questions posed at the earlier gathering.
Admission is free to the forum. Free childcare is provided by Daystar Child Care. Please RSVP to Melissa Benton at mbenton@jhbcc.org or call 317-808-2369. Reservations are not required, but appreciated.
