NESCO Summit Sept. 5

INDIANAPOLIS — The Near Eastside will host its quarterly Neighborhood Summit  to discuss our Quality of Life Plan on Sept. 5 at Clifford Corners: Urban Box, 3125 E. 10th St., Suite 1.  Topics will range from the neighborhood energy project, neighborhood diversity initiatives, re-entry programming, and more.  Babysitting will be provided. CERT Training Classes Begin

INDIANAPOLIS — Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training will be offered Sept. 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at East District Headquarters, 201 N. Shadeland. America We Remember Concert at Garfield

INDIANAPOLIS — The Friends of Garfield Park present The 16th annual America We Remember concert Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Garfield Park MacAllister Amphitheater. The event is free.
Music will feature the Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers, and, back by popular demand, 7 Bridges, the ultimate Eagles tribute band. Food vendors will be on site, and there will also be fireworks once it gets dark.

$10 Spay/Neuter Offer Extended

INDIANAPOLIS — Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) recently announced the extension of a $10 spay-neuter discount special. Through the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), pet owners and caretakers with limited incomes and receiving public assistance can get their pets fixed at half SNSI’s normal rate.
The $10 surgeries are available to qualifying pet owners through Dec. 31. Families living at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for this price reduction. Families are also eligible if they qualify for the Energy Assistance Program, Food Stamps, Major VA Disability, Medicaid, Public School Free Lunch Program, Section 8 Housing, Social Security Disability, WIC, and Supplemental Security Income.
