After Hour Clinics Close

INDIANAPOLIS — Two After-Hours Cinics operated by Franciscan Physician Network are scheduled to close with a third similar facility to remain open to serve patients in the Mooresville area. Clinics at Beech Grove (2030 Churchman Ave.) and Indy South (7855 S. Emerson, Suite P) will end services effective June 30. The Immediate Care centers at Thompson Commons (5210 E. Thompson), Greenwood (1001 N. Madison Ave.) and Nora (8600 E. 86th St.) will remain open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m.


BMV Warns of Phone Solicitations

INDIANAPOLIS — R. Scott Waddell, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), recently issued a warning to Hoosiers motorists of inappropriate phone solicitations regarding insurance rates:
“My office was informed that our customers are receiving calls from an outside organization claiming to be the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and offering to reduce their auto insurance rates. At no time will the BMV ever contact our customers about insurance rates. Please be advised that if you receive this kind of call that it is not from the Indiana BMV.” The offending calls were coming from the following phone number: 765-733-1023.


“Jane Jacobs Walk” to Feature Near Eastside Neighborhoods

INDIANAPOLIS — The public is invited to participate in a free Jane Jacobs Walk on June 15 from 10 a.m.-noon on the Near Eastside. Public Allies Indianapolis and Health by Design are hosting the event so people can walk, observe and connect with the community. The walk begins at the John H. Boner Center, 2236 E. 10th St. and weaves through St. Clair Place and Woodruff Place.
Using the theme “You’re a Gem,” walk participants will identify neighborhood assets – buildings, businesses, features, as well as the characteristics and talents of the residents themselves. The event is free; visit www.janejacobs.eventbrite.com to RSVP.


Community East to Host Health Fair & Open House

INDIANAPOLIS — Community Hospital East will host a Health Fair and Open House on June 15. The hospital, at 1500 N. Ritter,  invites all ages to the event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for free health screenings, health information, giveaways, and a chance to get up close to a Lifeline helicopter. Dr. Robert Goulet will hold a special town hall on breast cancer treatment options.
Heart and lung scans are available. Cost for heart scans is $49 and lung scans are $99. Call 800-777-7775 to register for an appointment.
