Near Eastside Neighborhood Summit June 8
INDIANAPOLIS — The next neighborhood summit for the near-eastside will be a pop-up complete street to both celebrate and give a vision for the work in the neighborhood. The event will be June 8 from noon-5 p.m. outside the East Washington St. Branch Library, from Rural to Oxford streets.
Residents are being asked to volunteer as a tour guide for the event, as a waiter for our “fine” Italian restaurant, and to help with setup and/or take down. Booth space is available (contact Megan Fetter mfetter@jhbcc.org for details).
Pogue’s Run Bridge Slated for Rehab
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works recently announced that rehabilitation work will begin soon on the Pogue’s Run bridge on Rural, near Brookside Park S. Dr. Currently the bridge is in poor condition and is classified as structurally deficient.
The project will rehabilitate the reinforced concrete arch bridge. Improvements include repair to the substructure, patching the construction joints to prevent future deterioration and bridge deck replacement. The bridge will consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, 8-foot shoulders and 8-foot sidewalks with new railings on each side.
Due to high traffic in the area, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Rural St. The project is slated to begin in June and be completed by November of this year.
