INDIANAPOLIS.— The Marion County Fair is accepting entry forms for its Princess, Little Miss and Queen pageants until June 7. The Princess pageant will take place 5 p.m. Friday, June 21, along with Little Miss at 7 p.m. the same evening. The Queen pageant is set for 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the Coliseum.
Princess contestants must be between the ages of 5-8 as of June 21, and ages 9-12 for Little Miss. Queen contestants must be 18 as of June 1, 2014 and no older than 20 as of Aug. 16, 2013 for the State Fair Queen Pageant, which is a new rule this year.
All pageant contestants must be a resident of Marion County or have at least one parent who resides in Marion County.
Judging will be based on beauty, poise, personality, communication skills, overall impression and stage presence.
The crowned Princess and Little Miss, along with first and second runner-ups, receives a crown, sash, trophy and Build-A-Bear.
The 2013 Marion County Fair Queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship, courtesy of Gregory & Appel Insurance, crown, sash, rhinestone pin, trophy, flowers and gold bracelet provided by Spalding Jewelers. First through fourth runner up, and Miss Congeniality will receive a crown, sash, rhinestone pin, trophy, flowers and silver bracelet.
This year, the Marion County Fair invites former Queens, dating back to 1958, to participate in pageant activities like orientation night, rehearsals and/or judging.
