INDIANAPOLIS — The Summer Servings feeding program for Marion County would like to remind parents that all children 18 years and younger can receive meals with no cost at Summer Servings sites.
The meal program provides nutritious meals in a safe and fun environment during the summer months around Marion County. Sites are open to all children and do not require registration. Below are seven general tips and program facts to help families prepare to participate in the Summer Servings program for summer 2013.
Summer Servings feeding sites and updates can be found at www.summerservings.orgin early June 2013. Many serving sites can be found at public parks throughout Indianapolis, community centers, local government agencies, recreation centers, school districts, or private nonprofit organizations. Sites are organized in the spring with the formal listing published early June. Sites offer meals at different times and days, so it is important to visit summerservings.org often starting June 1.
All meals meet nutritional guidelines. Each meal is guaranteed to meet the USDA nutritional guidelines and offer children a healthy source of nutrients.
Consider your transportation needs to get children to a site. Think about partnering with others in your neighborhood to transport children to and from the program. Public transportation may also be an option.
Registration is not required to receive meals. Summer Servings sites provide meals for all children 18 and younger and do not require registration, ID, or proof of income.
Ask your school for more information on site locations. Start now and utilize your local school as a resource for learning more about site locations and serving times that may be near you.
