INDIANAPOLIS — Multi-award nominated author Julie Young has released her latest title, The Famous Faces of WTTV-4 (The History Press), which celebrates favorite WTTV-4 hosts whose shows were appointment television for local viewers.
“Like most of my generation, I watched Cowboy Bob and Janie in the morning, Peggy in the afternoon and stayed up late on Friday night to tune into Sammy Terry,” Young said. “I was very excited to write this tribute to these hosts and the personas they created as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for being there every day and every week for all of us.”
Young researched the advent of children’s television in America, how those early shows developed and the events leading up to some of the most popular shows in the central Indiana market while getting personal anecdotes and stories from the stars themselves.
Kathleen Angelone, owner of Bookmamas in Irvington said she expects this book to be well received by readers who have requested a title that highlights the WTTV-4 personalities everyone loved during a pre-cable era when the shows were live the hosts were local and anything could happen.
Young is scheduled to appear at a book signing June 2 at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 E. University Ave. from 1-3 p.m.
