INDIANAPOLIS — Christ Church Cathedral, a downtown icon on Monument Circle, celebrates 175 years of generosity, service and music to the Indianapolis community. In the early 19th century, Christ Church Cathedral was known as “The Little Church on the Circle,” which later became the title of a book written by Eli Lilly. It was founded before Indianapolis was incorporated as a city and established as a parish in 1837. The current church building, erected in 1857, is the oldest structure to remain on Monument Circle and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Christ Church Cathedral is celebrating this milestone with its 175th Anniversary Concert: Music for Royal Occasions on May 19, 4:30 p.m. The program features highly festive music performed at British coronations between 1685 and 1760, with two of the works being performed for the first time in the U.S.
Prior to the performance, there will be a bilingual service to celebrate the occasion at 10 a.m. Concert tickets are available at www.cccindy.org and are $10 each. Christ Church Cathedral is located at 125 Monument Circle
