• On March 17 at 2 p.m. at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, there will be a showing of the classic film Hoosiers on the big scoreboard. Select members of the cast and Milan ‘54 basketball stars, including Bobby Plump will be there. General admission is $20 donation to the Heartland Film Society ($15 for members). Did you know there are at LEAST two folks here on the east side connected to the film? tHAIRapy Salon owner Ann Line was a stylist on the film, and the Weekly View’s very own Steve Nicewanger was an extra in the big game scenes! (Look for the tall bearded fella in the back in a red shirt!)
• The craft beer movement shows no signs of slowing. A new brew spot looks like it will be going in on the east side. The Indiana City Brewing Company is planned for the old bottle house of the Home Brewing Company on Washington and Shelby streets. The Home Brewing Co. was in business from 1891-1920. They’ll be opening sometime later in spring after renovations are complete. They’ll join some other great local microbrewers on the east and southeast side, including Sun King, Flat12 Bierworks, Fountain Square Brewing Co., and Black Acre Brewing Co.
• The city will be replacing the pedestrian bridge on Bolton over Pleasant Run. The project will run until approximately July, weather permitting. Another big project is the bridge rehab for 30th St. over Pogue’s Run, which is slated to begin shortly and will be completed by November. Beginning in April, the city will be replacing the bridge on Pleasant Run Parkway over Pleasant Run. This huge project will close the road, so start planning your detours now. The project will go on until October. Thank you DPW for all your hard work on making the area better.
