IRVINGTON — The Irvington Community Council and the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival recently announced the recipients of the 2024 Founder’s Awards. Since 2011, the awards have recognized individuals, organizations and businesses making significant contributions to the overall quality of life in Irvington. The awards are presented during the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival, to be held this year from Oct. 19-26, 2024.
For his advocacy on behalf of all Irvington small business owners, for introducing so many people to our neighborhood, and for his generosity to our community, the Council recognizes Dan Adams, owner of Artisan Realtors.
For their years of active volunteerism on behalf of so many Irvington organizations and events, and for their work to address food insecurity in our community, the Council recognizes Linda Kennett and Barb Johnson.
For his quiet yet constant generosity to our community, including service with the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival, the Irvington Business Association, and the Benton House, the Council recognizes Joe Hammond, owner of Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home.
For her tireless volunteerism in support of Irvington institutions such as the Benton House and the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival, the Council recognizes Lisa Watson.
This year’s awards will be presented Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Dr. The public is invited to attend. Each recipient will receive a personalized award from Irvington artist Daric Kindle. The event will also feature an art show featuring local artists.
