From The Indianapolis News, Thursday, October 16, 1919: Newly-elected junior class officers at Butler College were surprised to learn that their election has been declared invalid by the student control board following charges that the ballot boxes were stuffed in the recent election and another vote has been ordered. Yesterday’s freshmen class officer elections at the college may have taken a lesson from the juniors in that the votes for vice president, secretary, and treasurer were also declared invalid by the student control board because of ballot box stuffing. Despite the presence of election monitors at today’s meeting of the freshmen class, more votes were cast for secretary and treasurer than the number of voters present. The election for these offices was declared invalid and the freshmen will meet a third time to hold an election vote next Thursday.
