Confluence at Garfield Park

INDIANAPOLIS – Garfield Park is showcasing its latest art exhibit, Confluence: An Exhibition of Stone Sculptures, through Saturday, Oct.  22 at the Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Garden. The exhibit features monumental works by Dominic Benhura and additional renowned stone sculpture artists from Zimbabwe, Africa. These artists and conservationists share a remarkable similarity of thought, and a deep respect for nature and the role of the family within it. This exhibit was made possible by partnership with Kuaba Gallery and Dominic Benhura Studios.
“Indy Parks is grateful for the partnership with Kuaba Gallery and Dominic Benhura Studios that allowed us to bring Mr. Benhura and other artists’ beautiful stonework to our natural setting,” said Phyllis Boyd, director of Indy Parks. ”It’s an honor to exhibit Zimbabwean art in our parks, particularly art featuring elements of nature and humanity that speaks to people across many ages, cultures, and backgrounds. This exhibit opens the door for public engagement with similar art installations in the future.”
The Conservatory is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and admission is $3 per person. The Sunken Garden is free and open the same hours. Garfield Park is located on the southeast side at 2505 Conservatory Dr.
