IMPD 19th Recruit Class Graduates

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and Chief Bryan Roach are pleased to announce the graduation of the IMPD 19th Recruit Class. These 73 new probationary officers are set to begin their field training, serving Indianapolis neighborhoods.
The training lasts for 24 weeks. The class of 73 new officers includes 2 black females and 8 white females, as well as 2 females who identified as other, 5 black males, 3 Hispanic males, 52 white males, and 1 males who identified as other. This class represents IMPD’s continued efforts to build a police force that reflects the community it serves.
The 19th IMPD Recruit Class was sworn in on July 1, 2019.  These officers have been assigned to the Training Division for the past 24 weeks. The recruit training curriculum consists of 960 hours of classroom and scenario-based training and 20 weeks of on-the-job training in the Field Training Program.
The 19th Recruit Class is the fifth class of officers to receive their first assignments in a neighborhood instead of a zone since the return to community-based beat policing.
