LAWRENCE — On Monday, May 23rd, Indiana First Lady Karen Pence officially opened the Library’s StoryWalk at Ft. Harrison State Park where reading and nature come together. Students from the Fortune Academy and Holy Cross Lutheran School toured the half-mile path featuring installations of the picture book, “Woodpecker Wham” by April Pulley Sayre and illustrated by Steve Jenkins.
The StoryWalk, the Library’s second such project following last year’s opening of the StoryWalk in the Ruckle Street Park, allows families to leisurely stroll through the state park’s setting around Delaware Lake to view the story’s page-by-page recreation on mounted frames.
Managed by the Lawrence Branch, the StoryWalk at Ft. Harrison State Park is available for families to visit through October of this year.
