INDIANAPOLIS, — Friday, March 4 is the first open studio night of 2016 at the Harrison Center for the Arts. The Center’s 36 artists welcome the public into their working studios from 6 to 10 p.m.
In the Harrison Gallery, Justin Vining debuts a new body of work, “Coming Home,” a return to the familiar in subject matter (houses, farms, & barns) but the aesthetic has evolved. Historically, Vining has painted primarily with acrylics and watercolors.
In the City Gallery, painter Nathan Foxton brings his unique style to the genre of place-based art with his show, “IN Color,” an exhibition that looks at Indianapolis through the history of color in painting.Gallery No. 2 features “Kindred,” photography by Emily Schwank “This un-solitary life is formed by tragedy and beauty, love and anger, in equal doses. In this, Emily finds purpose: whether it is found in busy foreign streets, wild holy places, or her own back yard, she stumbles across images and finds them irresistible.”
Herron School of Art + Design printmaking students Etta Miller and Aaron Green present “Being Small” in Hank & Dolly’s Gallery.
The work hangs through March 25.
